Where can I purchase dance shoes and clothing?

Introducing BACKSTAGE BOUTIQUE located at our paradise location, 1521 Topsail Road.  The Boutique is open most days from 5:00- 9:30 pm while classes are in progress.  If you want to email us we can set up a time that is convenient to you.  We carry a varity of dance shoes and dance clothing.  We also carry 2nd hand dance shoes that our students can trade in for a pair that fits if they are available.  Check us out first.  If we don't have what you need then I suggest Payless, WalMart or The Dance Corner on Torbay Road.

Can parents accompany their child during class?

We ask that all parents, guardians, etc. of young students who wish to wait for their child please remain in the waiting area, where there is a closed circuit TV where you can view you childs class as it is in progress. The waiting area is mainly a drop-off point for students, whereas the majority of the studio is madeup of dance floor space.

Are Pre-Ballet classes in the year end recital?

Yes, all calsses listed in the class schedule take part in the year end recital. Although, younger children only perform one night.

Is there footwear for modern? or barefoot?

Students taking modern should wear tan/beige jazz shoes, black jazz shoes or ballet slippers. There are no bare feet in the studio to avoid injury and ensure cleanliness.

Where can I pick up my recital video? Where can I order one?

If you have already ordered a recital video, it will be emailed to you in the mail. If you would like to order a video you can go to www.kingsphoto.ca and click on the dvd store.

My child has never danced, is there any experience required?

There is no experience needed! It's all about fun and learning! Although, some older classes are advanced only, and will be decided upon by the instructor. Also, be aware that classes may alter during the first 3-4 weeks of the school year to ensure that every child is in the class best suited for them.

I bought tickets for the wrong show night, can I exchange them?

No. Barbara Ashley School of Dance is not responsible for show tickets. No refund is the Arts & Culture Center policy. Once you have purchased tickets from the Arts & Culture Center there is no exchanging or returning them, they're yours. To avoid this, please make sure you double-check the recital schedule online during show time and check with your instructor.

Are there make-up classes for snow storms?

Our school year is designed to allow for one missed class during the entire dance year due to conditions beyond our control (ex: snow storms, power outages, etc). If a second class is missed you will be advised by your instructor for a suitable make-up time.
